On October 4th, 2008 the WSM launch event took place at Figge von Rosen Galerie in Cologne, Germany.
WSM kicked off
with the first record attempt in the category:
Longest Guitar
Solo Ever Played.
Mr. Thom Kubli set the first world record in the category Longest Guitar Solo Ever Played. The guitar solo he performed lasted for 6 hours and 18 seconds. Starting at saturday, 2pm Mr. Kubli and the official notary Mr. Ingo Schreinert were locked into a closed space where the guitar solo unfolded over a period of just over six hours. The audience in the gallery could watch the event through a spyhole in the wall allowing insight to the world record setup. The event was broadcasted live over the internet via Hobnox.
After Mr. Kubli finished his soloing the attendant notary declared the lenght of the record: 6 hours and 18 seconds.
No bleeding fingers but a hell of a sound. Check out Mr. Kublis performance at the WSM video stage or visit the WSM profile at Hobnox.
